Cash Back Websites - Paying Yourself Commission

Do you shop online? Do you use comparison websites or search engines to find what you want to buy? Of course you do. You're savvy, you know all the bargains are online, and how to find them.

What you probably didn’t know is that when you follow a link to the shop where you've found what you want to buy, a "referral" is tracked back to the site you clicked from. This referral is ultimately used to financially reward the site the referred you. If you did know, you probably didn’t realise quite how much money is passing hands. Some times its a few percent, sometimes its a flat reward of £130 or more.

Now wouldn't it be good if you could get hold of that money yourself rather than letting someone else have it. Well you can. Loads of sites exist that let you have some of the referral money, but only a few that let you have all of it.

  • TopCashBack - This site is completely free, and also lets you have 100% of the referral cash.
  • Quidco - This site also gives you 100% of the referral cash, but take the first £5 a year.

So far TopCashBack is my favourite. You can get cash back from buying anything from your weekly food shop, gift vouchers, eBay items (you get some of the fees), to changing your gas and electric provider which give you a cash lump sum, on top of paying less for your fuel. You can also get around £100 for starting mobile contracts!

Keep in mind that when you’ve found what you want to buy and want to make the purchase, you need to go to your cash back site and follow the link to the shop you are going to buy stuff from. This is so the shop can record the referral back to your cash back site, which in turn tacks it back to you.

On your cash back site you can see how far along your cash back has got, it’s usually logged on the same day but can take a while for the cash back to get to the point where you can get your hands on it - the shops want to make sure you definitely have bought something you're not going to take back before they hand out the reward.

In case you're wondering, I'm not affiliated with either of these sites, but I do get a reward if you sign up to TopCashBack using my link.

If you don't know where to start with this site try changing your utility bills first, you probably need to anyway. I changed mine to eon and got £55.
